At the age of 18 I started Brit Nicole Photography. I won’t bore you with the details here, but during that time I didn’t realize just how profitable photography could be. I was always looking for different side hustles because I didn’t really believe in myself yet. I didn’t feel like I was “good” enough to be “one of them,” or capable of pursuing photography as a full-time business. Fast forward six years. At age 24 I was divorced, and left with nothing. Nothing. The kind of nothing that lands friends and family pitching in to help you get groceries, nothing.

It didn’t take me long to determine that I wasn’t going to let my circumstances stay the same. So, while I still did photography on the side I decided to introduce my city to its very first ever digital media marketing.

Because I had nothing, my dad actually had to co-sign a startup loan for me. But I was determined, and I was going to make a mark and insist that people pay attention. I bought the TV’s, found someone who knew how to work back-ends to computers, then flew myself to New York to learn from the best people I could find in this area of business.

I MADE things happen because life had taught me something important: things weren’t going to just magically happen for me. I had to pick myself up, dust myself off, and press forward.

Eventually, I sold that business for a hearty profit. I felt strongly that God was calling me back to my first love: photography. Once I came back, I took all the lessons I had learned through my own when-life-gives-you-lemons scenario, coupled them with the lessons I had learned during my business startup, and made more money that first year back in the photography business full time than most people my age did working a traditional nine-to-five. And guess what? It has just kept growing year after year.

I know that so often our brain dictates what we can and cannot do. We allow ourselves to be convinced of our limitations. But what if you said to hell with those limitations? What if you threw those limitations the bird and pressed forward full tilt?

I know how to overcome those hurdles and obstacles your brain is throwing your way each time you think about your huge dreams and big, scary goals.

I made it to where I am by learning from other professionals in this business. I listened to the other dreamers, the do-ers, the achievers. I sought out the experts in my field and I learned from them. I am here to tell you that your dreams matter. Your goals are important. Your desire to see this business grow is there for a reason.
